MOVIE RESPONSE PAPER

INSTRUCTIONS

1. Using the movie Judy (2019), textbook (Uppers, Downers, and All Arounders) and other internet sources, write a 9 to 10 page paper as a double-spaced Microsoft Word document in 12-point, Times New Roman font that evaluates the characters, their behavior, and drug use in light of the various topics covered in the course..

2. Your response should be THOROUGH and highlight information from the entire class. Use the list of “specific objectives” from the syllabus as a guide for topics I am expecting you to explore as well as the topics from your assignments and discussion forums.

3. DO NOT simply review and summarize the movie’s contents. I have watched these movies. I know what they are about. I do not need you to explain the plot to me. Summarize and highlight plot ONLY in an effort to explore specific topics from the class.

4. You will lose serious amounts of points for simply summarizing the movie or for not including topics from the class in your response.

5. Be sure to cite your resources for your work using APA style. You will lose points for not citing your work.

• An overview of the substance abuse issue being portrayed in the movie;

• A description of the substance(s) being abused; include references from our text as to some of the psycho-active effects of the substance(s);

• A description of the personal costs (biological, psychological, and social, & economic) on the person who is abusing;

• A description of “intervention” and your reactions, feelings, thoughts about the “process”;

• A summary of your thoughts about the “prognosis for change” and your thoughts regarding recommendations for further intervention.

APA format is required. 9 page minimum 10 page maximum.
